Global Warming.

Yeah, we have both heard of it.  Do either of us actually know what it is?

Do either of us even care?

I will be completely honest… I know what it is.  Have I cared up until this point?

I can sure pretend I have with a bit of pedantic preaching and hypocritical  speeches.  I can sure use and abuse this planet and the atmosphere, why, simply because it does not directly smack me in the face.

However, like the fight global warming commercial just illustrated, it still targets what I hold most dear in this world…

…my children.

The time for needless pollution needs to be at an end, and the selfless pursuit of achieving that goal is paramount to our children’s safety and future.

I know a lot of people, hell, I was one of them at one point, who say, “Pfft, that is not going to affect me!”

Again, you may be right, but what about this planet’s future? Without it remember, our children have no where to live and will most likely mean they will not exist.

“Global warming… ? Is that not like… a *million* years away?”

Well, firstly, movies are based on imagination and in most cases very real and natural scientific events.  So, movies like “The Day After Tomorrow” are not *that* far fetched.

So, whilst biblical events of nature could manifest themselves a million years from now, they could also very well do it tomorrow.  We as humans, know firsthand what miraculous and horrific events this world is capable of.

I cannot lie, the commercial scared the shite out of me.  Showing “me” getting out of the way of an oncoming train only to reveal “my children” standing in my place… sent shivers up and down my spine.

So come on… change is only put in motion when everyone gives a damn.

Start giving a damn.

StarCraft + Molasses = OGame

I recently learned of OGame, OK, I was actually pestered into it.

Anyway, if you like non-interactive, non-real-time, non-Flash-based browser-based games then this one is for you.

It is exactly like StarCraft for the most part, and from what I remember. Only difference is, it is slower than molasses and requires you to hit F5 a hundred times per minute.

It is alright as far as games go. It has actually prompted me to dig out a book I was sent recently, “PHP Game Programming (1, 2)”. Which I actually heard is lacking severely.

Then again, I can think of quite a few nifty game ideas using Ajax and the theory of MMO.

Hrmm…

Kaplan’s idiocy.

Kaplan’s idiocy has yet again illustrated another moronic staff member. This time in the guise of a dean.

I got an e-mail today (boilerplate of course) welcoming me to another term at Kaplan.

Funny thing was, I was addressed as “Erick”. For a little over 27 years now, I was sure my name was Michael.

Go figure.

Should I be impressed?

I just received a “President’s List Honors” in the mail presenting me with a certificate for attaining a GPA of 3.96 or higher in the February term.

Am I impressed… ?  Not in the least.

Also, my bastard of an academic advisor never responded to my RSVP for the enrichment seminar so I missed it (because I did not have the call-in information).

I think I should start a whole new series of “Why Kaplan sucks” posts.

Hrmm… I just may do that.

Enriching enrichment seminar.

At least… I hope it will be.

Tomorrow marks the start of my third term at Kaplan, and despite a multitude of horrible experiences thus far, I gotta’ say this seems kind of cool.

Tomorrow at 8PM EST we Information Systems and Technology students are invited to sit in on a phone enrichment seminar voiced by Peter Spande from CNET Networks and Jason Hiner from TechRepublic.

The topic will be “Real World IT: What IT Professionals are Talking about and Doing”.

It is giving me goosebumps already!

Well, hopefully this will turn out to be a redeeming point from a so far sinking ship.

Until then…

Is my writing suffering?

I am not entirely sure.  I can tell that I am struggling a wee bit during the writing process the last couple of days.

The grand total of medicines I am taking is now 13.  I would list them here, but do not think it would benefit this post nor am I sure of the legality of doing so.

I can howeve say this, 2 *very* nice pain medicines, 2 antibiotics, and 1 steroid.  The rest is pretty much OTC pain medication and my prescription loony pills.

OK, I will admit it.  I can hardly see straight, but dammit, I feel great!
