My first PPC.

Oh yeah, don’t I feel special.  I finally got my HTC Touch yesterday.

Interesting little device, although it is a bit lackluster.  I really don’t know what the hell I expected out of a Pocket PC, but I mean, I guess it’s good — what do I have to compare it to?

*shrugs*

Windows + Wacom tablet = Poo?

Well, let me be more specific.  The GTK+ packages seem to be at fault for both GIMP and Inkscape.  Of course, any other GTK+ based application will also fail.

For some reason the stylus seems to pass more information to the application, primarily the GTK+ engine than what it can handle.

I’ve tried the stylus support in Photoshop, ArtRage, and Artweaver and all of them give superior support.

Which is saddening because I absolutely love Inkscape as a vector program.  GIMP as my main raster program.  Now it looks like I am going to have to find another vector program, and *shudder* possibly have to stick with Photoshop.

How the hell can Linux be getting this *totally* right?  Is it an updated GTK+ or a combination of superior coding skills and an updated GTK+ package?

Hell if I know, but I sure wish someone would figure it the hell out.

Graphire goodness!

I received my Graphire4 tablet yesterday, wait, it’s technically Wednesday.  OK, I got it Monday.

Anyway, now I see why these things are so popular, I absolutely love it!  Granted, I also see why people get much larger ones such as the Intuos.  For an 1/8th of the price though, my itty-bitty Graphire4 will work just fine.

Whenever I finally release my new information site, I’ll probably create an area there for artists.  In there I’ll post my public domain graphics work.

Dell, Google, and the Dark Side of The Force

http://blog.opendns.com/2007/05/22/google-turns-the-page/

You have got to be kidding me! Every goddamn good thing in this world eventually goes to shit. Why is that?

I mean, think about it.

Bill Gates - Software-stealing, bug-eyed, big-nosed bastard. He created the monstrosity that is Microsoft. (NOTE: Yes, I would love Bill’s money.)

Carphone Warehouse - Sold out to AOL for the “big bucks.”

Linux - Well, Linus Torvalds didn’t sell out. At least one good thing remains. However, several, OK, not several, tens upon tens of Linux distributions are commercially owned now.

Macromedia - Sold out to Adobe Inc., for the “big bucks.”

Microsoft - Despite *being* the Devil’s plaything, the DRM situation has screwed hundreds of thousands of users of legally owned music. Makes it hard to wanna’ go the legal route, that’s for damn sure.

Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals - Sold out to Microsoft for the “big bucks.”

Shawn Fanning, author of Napster - Sold out for the “big bucks.” Only to have this backfire on him. Bastard.

Steve Jobs - Sold his sold to the Devil to market a goddamn iPod. (NOTE: Yes, I would love Steve’s money.)

Time Warner - Sold out to AOL for the “big bucks.”

America is all about making money, and selling your fucking soul.

I guess the next thing we’ll see is PHP being retired in lieu of Microsoft PHP.NET; the EFF becoming AOL EFF; Adobe GNU, and a slew of other open-source or freeware entities going the way of the mighty dollar.

Goddamn you Google. You geek bastards made me fall in love with you, and then you go and crawl into bed with Dell.

Google, you skanky, white-trash, gutter-slut whore. You have broken my heart. Burn in hell for your transgressions.

Note to my more casual readers: Please forgive my use of expletives in this post. I felt the need to be colorful.

The JVC GR-D770.

I bought this camera a few hours ago:
JVC GR-D770 camcorder

I purchased it from B&H Photo. You can view the details here:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/…JVGRD770…

(URL snipped for being annoyingly long.)

I opted for this one instead of the (supposedly) better one, the GR-D796, that comes with two batteries.

$64.05 USD difference, and when I need a new battery, I can easily find one for around $40.00 USD.

The funny thing is, from what I can tell, the D770 and D796 are *identical* save one difference. The first comes with only one BN-VF808 battery, whereas the latter comes with two.

Wow. What a feature…

ThinkGeek sucks a little less now!!

Remember my poor little helicopter that melted?  Well, ThinkGeek in classy fashion refunded me for said items and even sent me a new helicopter (non-gratis).

However, they did *not* refund my shipping and handling charges.  Um… why the hell not?

The helicopter burst into flames and melted all over my school book and carpet.

The gun’s battery compartment broke in the process of opening it (exactly like the book illustrated).

I get done with a representative not two minutes ago and they told me my order *DID NOT* qualify for a refund on shipping.  I repeated what I just said in the above two lines and the representative quickly changed their tone and assured me I should see a refund appearing on my credit card in mere moments.

Well, satisfaction at last.

However, it has been six whole minutes and I do not see a refund.  Tsk tsk tsk…
