And here I thought I was special.

Evidently my previous article was “worthy” enough to get a pingback from “Delete Blog.”

At first I thought, wow, my first ever pingback (I think).  Then I thought, “Oh that’s right!  Successful bloggers use the success of other bloggers to promote their blogging!”

That’s when I knew Delete Blog must be on crack.  I further verified this by seeing that for the date of November 12 alone there were 100+ posts, November 11 (the day I got the pingback) was similar.

Then I decided to check out a few and some of them are completely horrid, such as:

http://deleteblog.com/how-do-i-get-the-file-to-restore-my-itouch-to-an-earlier-software/

Which leads to:

http://www.officialappleitouch.com/?p=934

You may notice that it is a blog that without JavaScript is completely devoid of content.  After allowing script I see that it is a “cry for help” post.

How in the hell did that make it to the front page of a “website” that “collects the best and most interesting news, blogs, forum and articles from around the world about recent topics?”

For that matter, how the hell did my post about my kids and I make it to the front page on November, 11th?

Here’s one that I found via their “Featured Articles” widget:

http://deleteblog.com/5-blogging-tips-every-blogger-should-know/

Looks like the editor-in-chief has been stealing material from SiteProNews, Squidoo and Top Blogging — and not even doing a good job of it either.

Unless I’m mistaken, Delete Blog you are useless.

DonationCoder hacked!

From a direct quote on the page, “It’s heartbreaking to us that someone would do this to the site.”

I cannot agree more.  Why in the hell would someone hack a site dedicated to helping cheap software movements (mostly free)!?  Oh, that’s right… because virus writers have nothing to do with their pathetic permanently fused to their chairs, lives.

I mean, I went through a small phase of “virus” writing — the joke kind, and the “Haha, you trusted me ph00l, now you’re pr0n is gone!” kinds, but never this “My baby must propagate to the ENTIRE world so that I can spend the rest of my life in prision!  Moo har har!” kinds.

The problem is such widespread ignorant use of valid “hacking” tools being employed by everyone and their 11 year old brother or sister.  Or the retard little hackling (script-kiddie) who desperately wants to be a “hack4r” and proceeds to (hopefully) impress others by utilizing one of the most mundane, and idiotic (although sadly, extremely prolific) routines of exploiting old or abandoned software.

So here is my final thought on the culprits — either you’re retarded or you are a stupid child.  Otherwise, you might be smart enough to say, “Hey, I think you need me on your team — I’ve something to show you.”  If no one wants to reward you for your efforts (although nefarious in nature) then screw it — do what you feel you have to.

But I know damn well DonationCoder (and gang) would have gladly accepted you or made things worth your while if they didn’t.

This rant was made possible by parentheses.

Google experiencing technical difficulties?

I have no clue what is currently going on, but a lot of the Google Web sites as of 2007-08-31 12:14AM EST are down.

No, .com, .cn… and by the time I checked the domains again at 12:15AM after 8 minutes total inactivity, they are back up.

*shrugs*

Apparently Justing Schultz fell off the planet.

Remember recently, I requested help in winning the Ajax books that were apparently still being offered by FunWithJustin.com?

Well, it appears his site has been suspended for lack of payment.

Maybe Justin should have spent more money funding his site, rather than giving away free shite all the time.  It’s a shame how some good sites just die.

Ah well… no books for me.  On the bright side though, I hope he’s not dead.

Help me win some Ajax books!

Yep, you can help me win a few books from Justin M. Schultz’s site http://www.funwithjustin.com/.

So do me a favor and click here for Ajax Tutorials. It really is that simple.  By following that link you are helping me to notify Justin’s statistics script that you were referred by me.

Despite the link name, there are no tricks, no hidden spam, and no adult material.  It is a simple contest to win a few Ajax developer books.  That’s all.  It was his wish that all links have either that name above, or Blogging Tutorials, or even Internet Marketing.  So hell, click on any of them if you like, they all do the same thing!

Make sure you check out his Blogging 101 and Copywrighting 101 areas.  Definitely a ton of useful content there.

Thanks!

IMDb mimics Google. And Google Discriminates.

I guess despite Google’s questionable practices, there are sites that still think it reigns supreme.

IMDb has once again updated its site, and this time it looks a lot like Google’s “Image results for…” on its main page.

I use IMDb probably fifty or more times a week, and personally, this is not a function I need, or want for that matter.

In a related topic, I think Google’s display is fairly biased, actually, I don’t think, I know it’s fairly biased.

For example, search Google for “Mandela.”  (Or even “Nelson Mandela.”)  Now search for “Pamela Anderson.”

Now tell me which one actually showed you an image preview.  Yeah, bias at its best.
